Sherburne Music-Theater Society will be presenting a free, dramatic short story reading for the Halloween season performed in local libraries at the end of October. This year’s installment of “Tales to Chill the Soul” will feature the story “The Repairer of Reputations”, written by Robert W. Chambers and published in 1895 as part of a collection of his stories titled “The King in Yellow”. The story “The Repairer of Reputations” is considered to be a foundational work of the weird fiction genre and explores themes of sanity, self-delusion, and the subjective nature of reality.
This event is made possible with public funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Governor’s Office and the New York State Legislature, and administered by The Earlville Opera House.
